Keto weight plateau can be frustrating. It’s a phenomenon when your body stops losing weight on a keto. Here’s everything you need to do.
After switching to a Keto lifestyle on the 1st of January, 2015, I have monitored my weight very closely. Every time I weighed myself and saw the figures dropping, it inspired me to do more.
Despite this, there are days when you weigh yourself expecting a significant drop, only to be shocked to find that the figure has remained identical. This condition is known as reaching a “Keto Weight Plateau,” and it is not a cause for concern.
I generally weigh myself twice a month; the first time I hit a plateau was after completing one and a half months of being on the diet. For a brief time, I believed all of my hard work had been in vain when I saw the identical figure, which startled and terrified me. I have hit a plateau again today, so I am assuming that my plateaus are hitting after every two months. This time, however, I am ready for it.
Let me share with you the reasons for hitting a Keto Weight Plateau
- The most common reason for the weight loss to stall is the hidden carbs. I was having nuts, Greek yogurt very often last month. Those are the only culprits that I can think of.
- Eating excess calories, more than the TDEE could also prompt the body to start storing. Too much dairy can sometimes cause this.
- Low-carb foods can also raise blood sugar levels, with alcohol, dairy products, and artificial sweeteners being the most common culprits.
- Workouts need to be intense in order to increase the sensitivity of the muscles to changing levels of glucose. Just walking on the treadmill daily will not help.
- The human body is an amazing machine. And it could just be adjusting itself after a period of extreme weight loss. Your weight may remain stagnant one day and then have drained out as excess water the next week.
- Too much protein intake, over 1.5 grams per kilogram, can play the same role as carbs in the blood. If you hit a plateau, cut down the protein a little and increase the fat intake. But remember to keep the body in a calorie deficit.
- Keto is a funny thing; you have to eat right and exercise enough to get the best results. You might not be eating enough, and the body might have gone into starvation mode. Adding a few calories for a week or so should help.
- You might have recently started Keto and are nibbling every two hours instead of eating three or four meals. Increasing the periods between meals works well for most people. Try it. It allows the blood sugar and other chemical levels to return to the baseline level.
- The body could also be missing a micronutrient and sending you a signal of sorts. As previously said, taking supplements is strongly advised when following a keto diet.
Relating to my story, I don’t worry about plateauing since I think that if I continue on my current path, I will soon be able to lose weight again. These are just small hiccups in a wonderful journey of self-discovery and a new healthier me.
It surprises me that I am so focused on achieving my desired weight after going over four months without sugar or carbohydrates.
So many of you who have switched to a Ketogenic lifestyle, must be feeling nostalgic and sad when you recall your old life. I do too, every time I look at old pictures, huge baggy clothes and monstrous innerwear. What was I thinking?
I think the instant effects I saw in the first week of going Keto initially pulled me in. Can you name any other diet that makes you lose up to 6 kg of fat without going to the gym or moving a muscle? Once I felt the jeans loosening and the puffiness from my face vanishing, there was no looking back.
And despite my initial fears of how it would be possible to switch to the diet completely, since I live in India, it has not been so tough. After a few hits and misses, I have devised a food pattern that keeps me nourished and on keto. Let’s be honest: most components indicated on Keto websites are either unavailable in India or prohibitively priced.
But don’t worry; I’m here to help you become addicted to Keto without making any changes to your life or spending any more costs. Like I said earlier, just stick to the diet no matter what, and feel the layers of fat peel away from your body. The realization will take you by surprise, and you’ll feel completely different.
People who mock diets, saying that they germinate from a need to look pretty and acceptable in society, need to try Keto at least once in their lifetime. The energy that I feel in my body and my head, the spring in my step, and the glow on my face are proof enough that I am on the road to a healthier me.
After being on the diet for exactly four months and fifteen days, I am ready to share my before and after pictures with you today.
And now my after 4 months of Keto picture.
Get inspired and Go keto today!
